MONSOON MAILER: How to configure Throttling the Easy Way

Overview

When you are first sending mailings, you need to "ease" them into remote systems because they have not seen your traffic before.  If you send too fast you might get blocked or rejected altogether.  Or, if you are using a relay, like Mailgun you might be on "probation" and only allowed to send 100 messages per hour.  This is easy to do with our system.

Figure Out the Domains to Which You Are Sending Most

Step 1:  Look at Your List, by going to your Contact Lists:

menu to contact lists

Step 2:  View All Your Contact Lists:

screen shows all contact lists

Step 3:  Scroll Down to the List You Want, In This Case We Want Our List with 1901 Contacts...

Step 4:  Then click on the Blue Button [1,901] showing there are 1,901 domains in the list:

It might take 30 seconds while we build an index if you haven't viewed the list before, but we will break it down by domain...

Step 5:  View the List Breakdown by Domain (A neat feature of our system)

Step 6: Create a Throttle for Your Top Domains

You can see from this that your top domains are these:

  1. yahoo.com
  2. aol.com
  3. gmail.com
  4. comcast.net
  5. hotmail.com
  6. icloud.com
  7. att.net
  8. sbcglobal.net
  9. msn.com

So now we need to go build throttles for the most common domains.

Step 7:  Go to the Messages Menu Drop-Down and Click on Throttles

Step8:  Build your Throttle(s)

Then click on the green (turns blue when you hover over it) button [ADD THROTTLE]:

Then build your throttle by giving it a name "MY_DOMAIN_THROTTLE" and then filling in the receiving domains and limits, similar to below:

Then save it by clicking on the green [SAVE AND CLOSE] button at the top right:

And you will be returned to your "Throttles" Screen showing all your Throttles...

When you create other lists, you may want to add throttle lists for them as well.   You can also put each domain in it's own throttle if that helps.
